SEC football is officially back—and nobody’s living that reality harder than Mizzou fans after Thursday night’s wipeout at Memorial Stadium, where the Tigers steamrolled Central Arkansas 61-6 in front of a sold-out crowd of 57k. If there was any doubt the season had started, SEC Unfiltered’s Chris Phillips erased it with his social media war cry: the legendary “belt to ass” tweet.
Missouri’s offense was firing on all cylinders. Quarterback Beau Pribula, in his very first game in black and gold, put on a show by completing 23 of 28 passes for 283 yards and two touchdowns. He didn’t just sling it—Pribula also ran for 72 yards and another score, making a strong case for new Tiger hero status.
Not to be left out, Ahmad Hardy ripped through the Central Arkansas defense for 100 yards on 10 carries, tacking on a touchdown of his own. Marquis Johnson led the receiving charge with 134 yards and a score, giving Mizzou fans plenty of highlight-reel moments.
The Tigers looked fast, physical, and relentless, everything the SEC promises when fall football returns. Mizzou hosts old rival Kansas in the StorageMart Border Showdown next, with kickoff set for 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6, at Memorial Stadium.
Yeah, SEC football is back. And Missouri just put everyone on notice or did they?
